A little review of iPhone service which provided SoftBank. I got this information since I joined iPhone community on mixi.jp. Refer this for detailed particulars. (Japanese dude!)

As we all know the iPhone 3G will be released on 2 types of capacity: 8GB and 16GB. The prices are ¥23,000, and ¥34,560 respectively. SoftBank will be the only carrier for iPhone 3G in Japan.

But before that, a brief explaination about buying a mobilephone in Japan. It is totally different from Malaysia. It is more to get service in Japan rather than buying just a mobilephone. Moreover, prepaid service is very rare. The network carriers In Japan are: AU, NTTdocomo, SoftBank, Willcom. Malaysian people who living here love SoftBank anyway :) . Whenever you one wants to buy a phone, firstly think the network carrier then the phone. The carrier will provides you with a service plan. On the service plan, the mobilephone’s price will be include as one item on your monthly bill. So you may buy a phone without paying the full price of the phone.

The iPhone

Some people like it, some people don’t (like longfinger women). But it is the world phenomenon. Japanese have wait for it from the first release of iPhone last year. Luckly, iPhone 3G will be released in 75 countries including Japan on July 11, 2008. Not yet for Malaysia, officially. Singapore? Yes. So let’s go with sevice fee on the iPhone in Japan. For ‘White Plan’:

  • The basic fee is ¥980 per month.
  • Free local voice calling from 0100 to 2100.
  • Get “@i.softbank.ne.jp”
  • Add ¥5,985 monthly for unlimited web browsing.

I don’t want to review the another Premium Sevice for now as I know i can’t afford that.

Till then, thanks for reading.
