The Next Gen Game Console

Firstly, happy fasting to my muslim friends, this is my first time of fasting outside of Malaysia.

What is the next generation of game console? I believe you understand what it means. That would be the PS4, XBOX 720 and Wii 2. I won’t talk about the game content but the technology of bringing game content to your home. 

PS3 users are lucky because they have the state-of-the-art bluray attached to it so that they can enjoy the high-definition contents on bluray discs. Especially movies and games. The bluray dics can hold about 50 gigabyte (2-layer disc) of information within 12cm plate. It means high of data quality from audio, graphics, poligon, etc can be interpolated on a bluray disc.

But do we really need that?

Xbox360 quite a time ago used HD-DVD technology as the external driver. But since the HD-DVD production was suspended they went solo without changing into bluray or whatever. Why so? Actually i also don’t know.

Does it mean for the next Xbox 720 will support bluray? According to Microsoft bluray isn’t the future, but the bluray’s content is. What does it mean? They actually focus on IP to provide the contents to your living room via thier on developed console.

IP nowadays talk, it’s all about the optical fibers. Yeah, another kind of light manipulation. 

How about Wii 2. I haven’t heard about that yet. But latestly i heard is the new version of PSP will be on the market. LCD improvement, and built-in with microphone. I’ve friend working at Sony. He said that the development of that kind of new PSP was a year ago. So for sure there will be a lot of innovation in future. 

In the nut shell, in years to come IP will be  will go faster and capable to bring bluray contents as Microsoft have said. Anyway i ain’t the core gamer just watching what will come in the future, and looking what should i study for. Till then.
