A new logo has come

Posted in Graphic Design by hijz on the January 30, 2008

Recently the new logo for this blog has been created. I used photoshop vector image for the H logo and make it to sphere shaping, plus with the additional aero effect. And the other side effect below the sphere, seemed like a lake. Anyway, I don’t know what it is being sensed for other people.

The new MacBook Air is a phenomenon

Posted in Computer Science by hijz on the January 21, 2008

I emphasize that i’m not intended to buy the brand new MacBook Air but im just amazed with the culture that the Apple’s CEO Steve Jobs brought to the world of electronic. Just see the video below, he compared his Mac and Sony PX. It’s only one of slimmest japanese notebooks, but i think there still other notebooks which can win against that MacBook Air.

For instance, let takes Toshiba rx1 (ahem, the laptop that i want to buy in Japan). It weights only for 1.01kg, compared to the MacBook Air which is 1.3kg.

Logic Gates – the hearts of computers

Posted in Computer Science by hijz on the January 21, 2008

Recently I’ve just done experiments about logic gates (理論回路). Basically, logic gates are circuit that run the Boolean function. Function such not, and, or, nor, nand, xor and so on. I feel the function is such of heart of computer, and that are the basics command for them.

I think, the usage of Boolean is the distinction between digital and analog. Notice that the each of logic node is an IC for specific logic operation. Come on, we’re moving to electronic for computer, i’m so exited to see what we can do next. So i attach graphs from my recent experiments. I will explain them later on.

Hopefully i could create my report as a pdf file to upload to this website. But definitely the japanese version of the report will be done earlier, i think.

Software Maniac

Posted in Computer Science by hijz on the January 12, 2008

Since i’ve been formatting my computer, i installed a quite a lot of software on my computer. Especially those that i first time use them. It’s also the consequence of the high speed of internet connection makes me confidently download files with big megs (half of gig). The thing that i’ve never done before. For a good example this one is free to download and try, Microsoft Visual Web Developer (VWD) 2008 Express Edition. It comes with a tutorial video (also free to download) that introduce the software from a to d or e (read:from the beginning but not covering all). The size of download is about 1 gig for both files.

If you have experience using html language then you want to challenge yourself to move one step ahead then the MS VWD is suite for you. To talk in detail, it’s using .asp language, developed by Microsoft, which allows you to develop powerful yet simple of web funtionality. Let say calandar aplication which check your day’s task or using database. However, we have to learn basic MS Visual Basic, i think. Actually i want to write more about other software such kaspersky, algorithm learning software(japanese), super – video conversion software, google earth, and ulead video studio, etc but i need also work on my assignment a lot of exam preparation. It’s quite near about i month ahead. well, prepare earlier because i dont know either i will fall sick in that nearer days.

Have a nice day!

Apple juice ‘may prevent asthma’

Apples

Apples appear to be good for the lungs

Children who drink plenty of apple juice may be less likely to develop asthma symptoms, say scientists. The National Heart and Lung Institute research, published in the European Respiratory Journal, is the latest study to link apples and lung health.

Children who drank apple juice at least once a day were half as likely to suffer from wheezing as those drinking it less than once a month, it found.

Eating fresh apples themselves gave no apparent benefits, the study concluded.

There is some evidence that a healthy diet rich in anti-oxidants and vitamins is good for asthma
Dr Mike Thomas, Aberdeen University

The study looked at five to 10-year-old schoolchildren in the Greenwich area of London, asking their parents about their child’s fruit intake, and about any symptoms they had suffered.

While no link was found between apple juice consumption and a reduced chance of an actual asthma diagnosis, the link between wheezing and drinking the juice was quite strong.

The appearance of wheezing symptoms is one of the most important signs that a child is at increased risk of asthma, although many with the symptoms are not eventually diagnosed with the illness.

A similar, but weaker, benefit was found for children eating bananas at least once a day compared with less than once a month.

Cheaper solution

The apple juice involved did not have to be fresh apple juice – long-life juices made from concentrate were also effective.

Dr Peter Burney, who led the project, said that it was possible that ‘phytochemicals’ in apples, such as flavanoids and phenolic acids, were helping to calm the inflammation in the airways which is a key feature of both wheezing and asthma.

He said it wasn’t clear why a link between eating apples themselves and reduced asthma symptoms – already spotted in other research in adults – did not appear among these children.

“Further studies are needed to confirm the protective effects of apple juice from concentrate and bananas,” he said.

Dr Mike Thomas, an Asthma UK researcher at the University of Aberdeen, said that the study was further evidence of the protective effect of apples.

Research from the university published last week suggested that women who ate plenty of apples during pregnancy were protecting their unborn children against asthma later on.

He said: “There is some evidence that a healthy diet rich in anti-oxidants and vitamins is good for asthma.

“It is yet another reason why we should be encouraging a healthy diet.”
